Just a quick update on a film I mentioned in my first ever blog post; Room 237 is a documentary that speculates on the validity of the many theories that surround Stanley Kubrick’s horror classic The Shining. The film, directed by Rodney Ascher, earned a reasonable amount of acclaim at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Currently, it continues to do the rounds at film festivals around the world, and is most recently scheduled to be shown at the 50th New York Film Festival. Unfortunately, this means that a DVD release date remains unclear, although any date set will most likely be a way off from now. There are however some videos to wet your appetite in the meantime. The first is an interview at Cannes with the makers of Room 237; The second is a podcast interview which discusses the making of the film and gives a brief overview of some of the theories covered in the documentary itself.
